Former Drake University employee Robert Harlan has officially surrendered to police and is cooperating with the investigation. University President David Maxwell confirms small sums of cash had been taken from a petty cash fund fairly regularly since 2004. Officials at Drake notified police last month of their suspicions. Yesterday, Harlan was charged, taken to the Polk County Jail and then later released after posting $50,000 bond.
