Blank Park Zoo is getting an upgrade and new exhibits after a deal has been struck between the city of Des Moines and the private foundation that manages the zoo. City Council approved $25 million in improvements, plus a long-term lease and master plan that sets the zoo's expansion plans for the next twenty years. The sea lion pool will be one of the first things to see improvements, along with the Australian exhibits.
