Library Consolidation

Thousands in operating and administrative costs could be saved if more public library services in the Des Moines metro were consolidated. A report from the Metro Advisory Group says Polk County's got more than a dozen public library systems with annual combined budgets over $17-million. Backers of consolidation tell the Des Moines Register the goal's to save money without cutting services or closing libraries.
