Starting next week, Polk County’s 10-elected officials will for the first time in over 3-decades, pay towards their taxpayer-subsidized health insurance. The administrative change made by supervisors today, is expected to save taxpayers between $1,800 and $3,000 in combined yearly insurance premiums. The county expects to spend $5,700 this year for single-person insurance coverage, and $14,313 for every elected official who chooses family coverage.
