There are cooling centers around Polk County if you need to beat the heat. Des Moines community centers and shopping malls are dedicated cooling centers. Other locations include libraries and some city halls WHO-TV reports you can also call your county health department for the cooling center nearest you. You can also donate fans or air conditioners at and Des Moines fire stations.
