There's been some discussion of Des Moines making a bid to be host city for the 2016 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials. The Des Moines Register reports there are some major hurdles for the city to jump if they're going to get the event from Eugene, Ore. Topping the list is the money needed to pay for a 10-day event that's bigger and more involved logistically than the NCAA and U.S. Championships events Drake University's hosted.
