Regents Consider Cuts Next Week

Iowa's Board of Regents will take up possible program cuts to meet a 5.5% state funding cut when they meet next week. A proposed budget provides $449-million in state funding for the 2012 budget year, down from $474-million in 2011. The regents approved a 5% tuition hike in March, but with student enrollment up, the increased revenue won't keep pace with increased demand for faculty and services.
