Branstad Questions Legislative Services Budget Numbers

Gov. Branstad's disputing showing state spending will rise this year this morning disputed numbers from the non-partisan Legislative Service Agency, showing the state’s general fund budget will grow from $5.4 billion in the last fiscal year to $5.98 billion in the current fiscal year; largely because hundreds of millions in expenses last year were shifted out of the general fund and paid instead by federal stimulus funds or the state’s cash reserves account.
