Des Moines firefighters are trying to figure out what started fires on the outside of two homes on the city's southwest side. They happened early this morning. the first around 4:20am at 1100 Watrous Avenue, the second about an hour later at 4424 S.W. 26th Street. Damage from the Watrous Avenue blaze is about $30,000, the S.W. 26th Street fire at $1,000.
