Ames Canine Distemper Warning

Ames is warning dog owners to get their pets vaccinated against canine distemper. KCCI reports there've been quite a few a raccoons in the city found to have canine distemper. That's a risk to dogs that haven't been vaccinated. A spokesperson says the raccoons were initially infected by dogs with distemper and then spread it to other raccoons. Residents are being asked to throw away or pick up anything around their homes that could attract raccoons.
