Rising gas prices have many drivers wondering when traffic engineers are going to get in gear on improving the timing of Des Moines area traffic lights. The Des Moines Register reports engineers say the wait at a red light shouldn't be longer than 90-seconds to two minutes, except for those on side streets at major intersections. There are plans for signal upgrades on some major suburban streets.
