Legislature Sends Guv New Bill to Fund Flood Mitigation

The Iowa Legislature's passed and sent to the Governor a new program to fund flood-mitigation. The Des Moines Register reports, a community could get up to $15 million in state sales taxes generated on new development in that community to use for flood-mitigation projects like the levees, better drainage and river dredging. Communities would have to match the cash coming from the state, and in almost all cases federal money would also be available.
