Des Moines Police have collected stacks of phone money they say was used in a rather straightforward scam to steal from area stores. The Des Moines Register reports one suspect's been in custody in Dallas County since late last month for forgery. Police say the pair spent $850 in fake bills on clothes, then went to another Sears to return the clothing, and get real bills; then it was off to another register to exchange $300 in fake bills for $300 in real larger bills.
