Settlement Reached in Heemstra Wrongful Death Case

A Warren County judge today approved a settlement in the Rodney Heemstra case. Heemstra shot and killed neighbor Tom Lyon in a land dispute. He served time for Manslaughter. He was ordered 3-years ago to pay the Lyon family $6.8-million in damages and fees for wrongful death. He hasn't paid a dime, but the deal today calls for court monitored real estate sales, with the proceeds going to pay his creditors, the state Revenue Department and the IRS.
