Polk County Crash Involving School Bus, Semi and Pick-Up

An associate teacher and a 16-year-old student were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Polk County.
According to the sheriff's office, just after 3 p.m. Friday, a Saydel school bus carrying three people stopped at the railroad tracks on northeast Broadway, when a semi-trailer truck struck it from behind. A Ford pickup then hit the semi.
The associate teacher and student, who were on the bus, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
According to Officials, the driver of the trailer truck, 37-year-old Irfan Dervisevic, was given a citation for failing to stop in a sure and clear distance. No other citations were issued.
The portion of NE Broadway from northeast Delaware to EFCO was closed until about 4:20 p.m.
