A Polk County jury's convicted 30-year old Matthew Elliot of child endangerment causing death and willful injury causing serious injury in the killing of 7-month old Alexis Gilbert in January 2008. Elliot could be sentenced to up to 35 years in prison. He was convicted of child endangerment and willful injury in 2009, but a new trial was ordered over the possibility that jury heard improper testimony about a detective's conversations with the infants' 7 year old uncle.
