Economic development measure before lawmakers

State lawmakers are looking at a measure that would create a new economic development agency, and a proposed amendment would require that information about donations to its nonprofit arm be public. Gov. Terry Branstad says the revamped economic development agency is key to fulfilling his pledge of creating 200,000 jobs in five years and increasing family incomes 25 percent.
