West Des Moines hosts scrap appliance event

West Des Moines is partnering with Midwest Recovery to sponsor a scrap appliance and metal drop-off event tomorrow. It's from 8 a.m. to noon at the West Des Moines public works facility, 560 S. 16th St. We'll post a complete list of items they'll accept, including washers and dryers, on our website. If you have a TV to dispose of you'll be charged from $7 to $27 depending on size. You can toss a propane tank for a grill for $5.



Items accepted free of charge include water heaters, stoves, microwaves, VCRs, DVRs, printers, copiers, washers, dryers, furnaces, backyard grills, computer central processing units, exercise equipment, dishwashers, game systems, riding mowers, batteries, cellphones, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and general scrap metal.


Items not accepted include appliances filled with food, chemicals, paints, tires, water softeners, plastics, garbage, wood furniture, carpet and light bulbs.
