A man is in custody after chase in West Des Moines yesterday that reached 115 miles an hour. Investigators tell KCCI the incident began when the man robbed a Smashburger restaurant near 22nd Street and University Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Monday. When an officer spotted him, the man took off and led police on a chase that lasted nearly 50 miles. It ended on Interstate 35 just south of Story City. The man's name has not been released. Police say no one was hurt during the chase.
