Last night’s London Olympics opening ceremonies did not include a former Iowa State runner. Guar Marial is a refugee from Sudan’s civil war and is stuck in Arizona because of Visa problems. Marial lost 28 members of his family in the Sudan civil war and will run under the International Olympics Committee flag because the new country South Sudan does not have an Olympic committee yet. Officials expect to have Marial in London in time for his race August 12.
