More Des Moines metro law enforcement agencies are adding automatic license plate scanning technology. It allows authorities to instantly process your plates to see if the tags are expired, if there's a warrant out for the owner's arrest, or if the owner's in a gang. Polk County Sheriff's started using it last year. Des Moines Police get it this fall.
