State Govt. Getting Closer to Spending and Revenue Matching

State Auditor David Vaudt says Iowa's getting better at cutting its reliance on one-time sources for ongoing expenses, but the state's still spending more than it takes in..but at $171-million, it's better than it's been. Vaudt says the state has two big hurdles coming: unfunded pension liability, down now to 80%, and the potential loss of federal aid for many programs as Uncle Sam pulls back to get its own house in order.
