Authorities shot a mountain lion in the 3900 block of Columbia Street in Des Moines this morning. KCCI reports the first responding officer says he couldn't believe he was staring at a 6'3" mountain lion. Unfortunately, the lion tried to make a run for it, and there wasn't time to wait for someone with a tranquilizer gun, so the officer, armed with a shotgun, put the lion down.
