How did a mountain lion end up in the back yard of a Des Moines home? That's what authorities want to know after a Des Moines Police officer shot and killed it yesterday in the 3900 block of Columbia Street. KCCI reports the animals remains are on ice and awaiting testing by a DNR wildlife biologist. A DNR spokesperson says finding a mountain lion in a city is extremely rare.
