JUDGE REJECTS GUILTY PLEA

A judge has rejected a guilty plea from a Waterloo man who's accused of ramming three police cruisers during a chase in Hiawatha.

31-year-old Bobby Wolf made a deal with Linn County prosecutors and was prepared to plead guilty on Tuesday to three charges stemming from the Aug. 25 incident.

Court records say the chase began after Wolf stole a pickup.

But when Judge Thomas Koehler asked Wolf whether he intentionally hit the cruisers, Wolf said he didn't remember but acknowledged that he was trying to get away.

Wolf's lawyer says Wolf was drunk that day, but the judge stopped Tuesday's proceedings anyway.

In pleading guilty, defendants must admit to the factual basis of their crimes.
