The Des Moines Social Club's gotten another pledge towards converting a downtown Des Moines firehouse into a cultural center, with an art gallery, theater, bar and restaurant. The $150,000 pledge is from the Fred and Charlotte Hubbell Foundation. The Des Moines Register reports the Club's already raised $600,000, and city council yesterday approved a contract to sell the Mulberry Street fire station.
