The Iowa unemployment rate dropped to 5.2% in September. It was 5;5% in August. State Workforce Development Director Teresa Walhert says the numbers paint a picture of a very slow and uneven recovery from the national recession that started in 2007. Iowa's unemployment rate is well below September's national jobless number of 7.8%, which was down from August's 8.1%.
