The Polk County Sheriff says the Elkhart teen who hit a DM public school teacher Tuesday night's been cited texting while driving and improperly overtaking a vehicle. Authorities say 17-year old Maria Claussen was texting when she hit 42-year old John Meyer from behind in the 1700 block of NE 142nd Street. WHO-TV reports Meyer, who teaches at Garton Elementary, is in fair condition.
