A state education reform task force's is recommending raising minimum starting salary for teachers from $28,000 to $35,000, and calling for a raise for special education teachers. State Education Director Jason Glass says the task force isn't calling for a tax hike to cover the cost. KCCI reports the recommendations providing opportunities for advancement other than being a principal.
