Iowa's Utilities Board has approved a rate hike for MidAmerican Energy to cover rising costs. MidAmerican raised rates 4% already this year. With the rate hike coming next year, the total increase for both years will be 6.7%. Customers are already paying $2.33/month more, and next year's hike will add another $1.30. MidAmerican has 770,000 customers in Iowa.
