Staying Safe in the Heat

With the heat wave still in full force, health experts are concerned because many cooling centers won't be open tomorrow. Polk County's overnight center at the Youth Shelter will open tonight at 8 and stay open until 8 Thursday morning. The Des Moines Register reports experts say you can enjoy outdoor activities, but you have to stay hydrated, drinking lots of water-and not wait until you're thirsty; and avoid alcohol-which can contribute to dehydration.
