JUMPING INMATE FALLS FOUR STORIES

A jail inmate didn't waste anytime. When he saw a chance to escape, he took it. Instead of freedom, the man is now recovering in a hospital. Police say a a jailer was taking 21-year-old Tanner King, to the exercise room on the top floor of the Webster County Jail. An exit door was open for some reason, and he dashed through it to the rooftop. There he found he had nowhere to go so he jumped. Chief Deputy James Stubbs says it's now believed he was trying to jump to an adjacent building. Instead he fell four stories to the alley below....usually a fall that would kill a person. But King survived, and prbably will not be charged with escape.
