Siemens Energy, a wind energy equipment manufacturer, says it's laying off 615 people in Fort Madison, Kansas and Florida in part because Congress hasn't renewed a tax credit for wind energy. 407 of the cuts are at the wind turbine blade factory in Ft. Madison. KCCI reports the company's issued a statement saying the industry's seeing a sharp drop in new wind turbine orders.
