Des Moines school advisory committee issues recommendations

As the state comes to grips with what could be a budget shortfall of as much as $6.8 million, advisory committee members in the Des Moines school district have finalized their recommendations. The proposal includes higher taxes, furloughing staff, and outsourcing some services. They will present their recommendations Monday to district leaders and the school board, which will use them in developing a final budget proposal for fiscal year 2012.
