Teens Should Have a Year Before Driving Solo

Iowa lawmakers are considering a bill requiring a full year of practice, with a parent along, before teens can get a license. The Des Moines Register reports 16 and 17-year old's would also have to be accident-and violation-free for that year to get an intermediate license, which lets them to drive alone. Research also shows that six months isn't long enough for Iowa's new drivers to learn all they need to know, according to Kathy Legget, of Blank Children's Hospital, who's one of the lobbyists pushing the proposal.
