Workforce Development may close offices

Iowa Workforce Development may cut 39 field offices across the state and shift those services for unemployed workers to about 400 public libraries. The agency says libraries across the state see many job seekers doing searches and writing resumes and it would save them money. The proposal would cut about 100 state positions. Critics blasted the idea, saying it would hurt services to more than 100,000 unemployed Iowans.
