Des Moines City Council's asked the city attorney's office to look into possible date changes for city elections. Council members say they want to make sure runoff elections, if they're needed, don't happen the same time as Thanksgiving Day. Concerns about the runoff system for city elections in Des Moines could spark another change for voters. The city attorney's office will be talking to county election officials about holding the regular election in October so runoffs, if needed would hit in November and not December.
