Des Moines City Council members approved selling a two acre piece of public green space, last night. Developers John and Tim Mauro have proposed a six million dollar plan to build 40 apartments for low income seniors near 52nd Street and Franklin Avenue. The property is listed on the city’s web site as a park. Appraisers put the value of the land, which is known as Franklin Field, at 173-thousand dollars.
