A Des Moines police officer is recovering from surgery after he was injured on Friday when a pick up truck hit him. Officer Phoukham Tran is at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Police said Officer Tran was keeping the Iowa State Fair Safe when the truck hit him just outside the fairgrounds. KCCI TV reports that Keith Terry, who was driving the truck that hit the officer, celebrated his birthday in the Polk County Jail, as he had a blood alcohol content of .264, more than three times the legal limit, and is in jail on a 50 thousand dollar bond.
