ICE Tries Again for New Digs

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement office has been trying to get settled in a larger space to process and detain people suspected of being illegal immigrants. But, each time representatives come to a meeting of the Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission with a proposal, there are protests from activists and neighbors. Tonight, they try again, for a building in the southwestern part of the facility. U-S Federal Properties is going to ask for zoning amendments to allow ICE to locate in an existing commercial building on Thornton Avenue, in Airport Commerce Park West.
