A Norfolk Southern train derailed in East Des Moines last night and investigators say, amazingly, it did not tip over, but stayed upright. The derailment was in the 21 hundred block of East Market around 8 p.m. The conductor told investigators that he felt a car rocking and so stopped the train. The wheels went off the track, but the train did not tip and firefighters said no one was hurt.
