A Des Moines fire rescue crew was heading back to the firehouse after a call, when one of the medics said they thought they someone lying on the ground in a parking lot. They turned around and found a man who'd been shot in the chest. KCCI reports this happened near 6th Street and College Avenue about 1:30 this afternoon. We're told the man was conscious and alter when taken to a hospital. Police are investigating.
