Swim Warnings at 4 State Beaches

Four state-park beaches -Backbone, Lake Keomah, McIntosh Woods and Nine Eagles - had bacteria readings above swimming limits in samples taken earlier this week. State officials say if you go swimming at any of them, don't swallow the water and bathe when you're done. Lake Keomah's also got a warning about microcystin, The Des Moines Register reports it's emitted by algae and can cause skin rashes and even neurological problems. Dogs are especially at risk.
