DNR Warning About Big Creek Lake Algae Bloom

A blue-green algae bloom's led Iowa DNR to warn everyone not to swim or drink the water at Big Creek Lake. That algae can produce a toxin that can kill dogs and make humans sick. It was discovered last weekend. A DNR advisory says the algae takes on a reddish brown color when it is at its most dangerous and has a foul odor. It can also appear pea-green or blue-green in color.
