Winterset Facing Drought

The city of Winterset is considering putting its drought plan into action. That's because the city is facing a drought emergency. The level of Cedar Lake, which supplies Winterset's water, has dropped to the lowest levels in five years. City officials said Winterset hasn't had any significant rain in nearly three months. They say the lake's level drops about a inch a day. Officials say residents should use common sense when using water: don't let it run when you brush your teeth, don't wash cars, water lawns -- basically, be more conservative than you're bing now.
