Have patience. The construction that's turned traffic in downtown Des Moines into a nightmare should be done by Thanksgiving. Much of the work that's gummed things up is around the Polk County Administration building, and involves a huge storm sewer project, that's supposed to improve flood protection by separating the sanitary and storm sewers. More work is expected on the project next spring.
