The former president of the Vinton-Shellsburg School Board has been sentenced to two years probation after he lied on a voter registration form. The form specifically asks about felony convictions and illegally voting in local elections and 50 year old Patrick pleaded guilty to lying on the form. Lyons was arrested last April and quit the school board when he was found out. Turns out that in 1996 he had a theft conviction in Polk county and was not eligible to vote or run for public office.
