Plan to Cut Des Moines Precints

Twenty voting precincts in Des Moines could go away under a plan to save money on municipal elections. The Des Moines Register reports Des Moines officials are also considering asking for a change in state code that would allow city and school board elections to be held on the same date. The plan to cut Des Moines voting precincts from 108 to 88 would save $22,000/election.
