The Polk County Treasurer’s Office's opening a temporary satellite office where you can make property tax payments. It'll be at River Place, 2309 Euclid Ave. in Des Moines, on Thursday and Friday. The Des Moines Register reports Friday's the last day to make property tax payments in person without late interest. The easiest way is to pay on line: www.IowaTaxAndTags.gov. Mailed payments must be postmarked no later than Sept. 30 to avoid the late penalty.
