Road crews were working today to remove the damaged tractor trailer from the east bank of the Des Moines River. The truck went through a guard rail Monday night and careened down a slope to the Neal Smith recreational trail. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured, but the Iowa State Patrol says the truck is totaled. There's also some damage to the trail itself. The accident is under investigation, although no one was ticketed.
